Josiah Correa was charged after his mother found the body of Jose Correa Tuesday night in the apartment she shares with her son above an Orange Road restaurant and barber shop.
It was unclear how long the victim had been dead.
Correa was charged with murder and weapons offenses, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office announced in a release.
